Hi all,
Well i went to my LFS in central London today, and they had the Koralia Nano in stock. They had one in use on one of thier frag tanks. I have been toying with the idea of more flow for my tank recently.
I bought one and rushed home to install. It is brilliant, more than enough flow, if not more.
It is literally half the size as the Koralia 1.
It cost 29.99.
I was suprised to see it, becouse according to Hydor they have not officially been released.
My Lfs said that he has sold about twenty this week already. They are proving to be very popular, due to tiny footprint but massive power.
Really impressed.

Gary,
Thanks for the heads-up on this new product. It's JAN 2008 now and there are quite a few more online stores selling them.
Has anyone else tried one?
How do people think it stacks up against other power-heads, like a maxi-jet.
Cheers .... Matt

Jordan,
How are you finding the koralia 1? Is the sad face is because you couldn't find a Nano, or because you are not happy with the one you have?
I guess it's too late now, but at the risk of sounding like a smart-arse, I've googled Nanos in the the following online stores ...
ebay,
aquatic-store.co.uk,
marquatics.co.uk,
midlandreefs.co.uk,
atlantisaquatics.co.uk ... to offer a few.
... but like you, I can't say I've seen any in my LFSs ... maybe they'd order one in if asked.
Regards ... Matt

i have a koralia nano, 900lph might sound like alot if you're used to maxijets etc but the flow is very dispersed, you don't get huge movement especially after 6" or so. I would say it's suitable for all but the larger nano's where a larger koralia or a nanostream would probably fit better. For example I have a koralia 1 in my rio 125 and could probably push it to a koralia 2.
There's also been quality issues with them vibrating & making noise(same goes for the larger koralia's). Having said that nanostreams also vibrate when new and need running in, plus they have brackets that are prone to breaking. Unfortunately there's no perfect solution for a small stream type pump at the moment.

I bit-the-bullet and got a £26 (delivered) Hydor Koralia Nano from eBay. Seems OK. I can visually see lots of flow but, as others have stated, the flow is dispersed so it doesn't feel as strong as it is. So far it seems very quite. I'm also tempted to try the Tunze in there too (for comparison), but at 60 liters I think the flow from both would be too much. The magnetic mount is genius. My only concern is how the push-in ball joint copes over time ... will it become slack, or even have a tendency to fall out?
I'll try to remember to post again later with an update ..... regards .... Matt

I've been running Korallia 1's & 2's.
I like the way they disperse their flow. I prefer them to Maxijets.
They do chatter when starting up so using them with a wave device will be noisy.
One issue is with the more open intake design compared to Maxi-Jets. I've seen more than one anenome get sucked up by Korallia's. In a small (nano) tank a wandering nem can easily find any Korallia intakes & meet it's maker.
I've not used Tunze Nanostreams but love the 6101's are awesome!

I've got a tunze nanostream 6025 for sale, £20 pickup from Bristol or £25 posted recorded delivery. it's brand new, only used for 1 hour!
It gives out great flow, definitely 2400lph. Its a bit too much for my 14g aqualantis nano. I want a koralia nano instead...

Hi Mate,
I have from time to time had the noise, it normally turns out to be some crap on the inside rim, where the front grill sits, open it up and give it a good clean, make sure its all square when you put it back together and it should be silent again.

Thanks will give that a try, a bit worrying seeing as i only put it in the tank yesterday! They certainly pack a punch, works a lot better than i thought it would.
Thank you
