I'm shortly buying a new aquarium. I was going for nano but I could get a much larger tank for little more money. The tank I'm looking at is 'advertised' as being able to hold cold, freshwater or marine fish. I asked the guy in the shop if it was really able to hold marines due to the lighting.

He said you can simply buy new light tubes....surely its not that simple??

The tank I'm looking at is an 'Amazon 240', ive since found out that AquaOne produce the Amazon brand and its a 'World of Water only' tank.
I am unsure of the lighting specs but what would I need to consider?

cheers

Depends what you want to keep mate,

If the lighting unit only holds two tubes, you can replace them with one marine white and one actinic tube and you would be able to keep some lower light corals such as mushrooms. You could also go as a Fish Only tank and then lighting isn't important. However you'll still need Live rock, good flow and depending on the size tank, you could as skimmer.

Cheers
