Over the last couple of days, this type of grass has sprung up. It is only on one rock at the moment. So, should I get it out or is it OK.
thanks again.

Hi Mark,

its green hair algae, a product of long lighting periods and high nutrients / phosphates. To get rid / control it, cut the light, reduce feeding and physical removal helps.

Still, not as bad as cyano.

Thanks again,
I will reduce the amount of "daylight". Can't do much about feeding, as I haven't got much to feed. 2 Peppermints, some hermits and snails.
It was only on one piece of rock, so when I done a water change earlier today, I removed the rock and put it in the bucket of the old water with a heater and PH. Should make it a bit easier to try and remove.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Nothing to add to what Billy said other than...

Manually remove it as much as possible and let your hermits mow it for you. I had some about 1/8th inch high and the hermits plowed through it.

Agree with everyone there,

I'd say that's better looking hair algae than most as it's so thick, the really nasty stuff is the thin stranded, I wouldn't be too fussed to have couple of clumps in the tank. Make sure when you remove it you siphon it so it small bits don't go and seed itself everywhere.
