Hi im just beginning in reef keeping and have just bought an interpet 94l tank. I was hoping if anyone can give me some basic tank setups ie which order to do things in do i put my water in first then the live sand or sand first and then do i leave the lights on for 10 hours a day and at what stage do i add live rock.Been reading up on the internet but still cannot find the right answers.Your help would be very much apreciated please please please help.

There's no real point in having just water in your tank, not a lot is going to happen.

You can add your sand before or after the water it's up to you, but don't panic if the water goes cloudy it can take a day or so to settle. If you add the sand first though make sure the water is already premixed with salt.

Then once you're up to temp add the rock. People say different things but personally I think room lighting is sufficient for cycling a tank. The length of the cycle will depend on the rock, but usual figures are 1 to 4+ weeks. Don't be tempted to skip ahead, make sure all levels are correct and stable before continuing.

Once it's cycled start using the lights and very slowly add livestock choosing the most hardy first of all.
