i've read it can help placing the food in front of a powerhead and releasing to give it a bit of life like movement. How long has it not been feeding?

I wouldn't worry too much about starvation at this point, a well fed fish can last a very long time. What I would be more concerned about is general health, keep a close eye for anything out of the ordinary and double check water quality - maybe do a precautionary water change.

The longest I've had a lionfish not feed for is around 4-5 weeks. It remained healthy, albeit a little thin. A hungry lionfish is a brave lionfish though and should soon start eating again. In their natural settings, they may go a few days without food so their a bit spoilt in our tanks. You could also try a different food.

Cheers
