Here's some pic of a snail I found recently in my tank.

I've never seen one before & I'm not sure if it's harmful or not - it came off a button polyp colony I got 2 weeks ago & it seems to 'slime' things (including my beloved R. Yuma icon_sad.gif )

Can anyone let me know what it is? Should I get rid? etc.

Cheers.

You can see slime coming from it in the 1st pic.

From the pic it looks very much like a Heliacus sp snail.

These guys are coral munchers, they are known for eating zoanthids especially, although i'm not sure if they eat other corals too. I would get them out of your tank asap.

Agreed Heliacus Areola aka Sundail snail

Thanks for that.

It does seem to be quite nasty according to that link.

It's outta there as soon as I find it again!

Get a torch and watch your tank at night as it will be easier to spot as coral polyps will be retracted.

Cheers Rob,

I've just done that & found it tucked up almost underneath the polyp rock, no doubt munching away.

He's now been dumped!

Thanks again for the help.
